Review

The modern hard disks are designed to provide you excellent performance. This however can slow down and not provide optimum results because of disk fragmentation. Auslogics Disk Defrag is designed to increase and get the best performance of your hard disk. Thus, avoiding disk fragmentation that can lead to reduced performance and throughput since the storage sub system has to work harder to retrieve the file data when needed.
The main advantages of this application are that it improves the performance and stability of your computer, thus increasing the productivity.
Each file is stored as a linked list of clusters and the data in a file can be located anywhere on the disk. Although a file can be spread all over the disk, this is far from the ideal situation. The reason is performance. Hard disks are relatively slow devices, mainly because they are mechanical and have moving parts. Each time the hard disk has to move the heads to a different track, it takes time that is equivalent to thousands and thousands of processor cycles. This can lead to system crashes or freeze-ups. Therefore it is important to defragment your hard disks and optimize the performance as much as possible. This would enable the entire file to be read, if necessary, without a lot of mechanical movement by the hard disk.

The disk fragmentation process takes only a couple of minutes and provides you a useful and detailed report of the disk defragmentation. The application supports Windows XP Home and Professional, 2000/2003 and Vista operating systems. Auslogics Disk Defrag is designed as a solution to slow systems and crashes caused by disk fragmentation. Auslogics Disk Defrag is extremely simple to use and is faster than most of the other disk defragmentation software that are available in the market.

For a while, I had both auslogics and IoBit defrag programs on my system. I had used Auslogics for quite some time (like years - not days). It was efficient and fast but did not have the optimize and "shut down" the computer when done options. So IoBit was on my system for those features. So I would run auslogics for the most part and would run smart defrag occasionally to take advantage of the optimize feature. The new Auslogics has included an optimize and a "shutdown" after running (for the cleanup and clearout crowd). Ergo, I removed IoBit smart defrag and still remain faithful to auslogics defrag. Try it - you might like it.
